A Fat kid with low self esteem. That was me. Since before I can remember I’d been quite aware that I was overweight. I mean I wasn’t just a little bit soft either… I was a FULL BLOWN OBESE child! I’ll never forget being weighed in the principals office as I started a new school in kindergarten. At 5 years old I tipped the scales at a whopping 98 lbs! Even at a young age I could tell by the perplexed look on the faces of my teachers that something wasn’t quite right. Thus, Mine was the typical case of being teased throughout my school years. This was the way it was for me until I reached age 18, when I decided to make a change.
I had just started College and I decided to start going to the University wellness center gym with some friends to meet girls. I’ll never forget walking in and seeing one of our university’s star football players doing standing cable curls. His arms were ripped and had bulging veins pushing through the skin.. he was shredded! I made the decision right then and there..I will no longer be the fat guy! I was so inspired by the sight of the ripped football player that evening that I began researching diet and training on my own. I started my Freshman year at 250 lbs of flab and by the end of the spring semester that same year I weighed in at 175 lbs, 10% body fat!
I may have begun my transformation with vain aspirations of getting attention from the opposite sex, but it quickly became something more. I soon realized that being fit and making positive physical changes not only makes me feel better about myself, it literally enhanced every aspect of my life: mind, body, and spirit.
Now I’m an American Council on Exercise (A.C.E) certified personal trainer and NPC bodybuilder with new goals. As I continue my personal quest towards getting HUGE and earning my IFBB Pro Card, I want to help others realize that they can change too! I want to inspire people to apply a Scientific approach to training/nutrition/supplementation so they can feel powerful, energetic, and happy!
